RESUMO

Lung diseases have become a major threat to human health worldwide. Despite advances in treatment and intervention in recent years, effective drugs are still lacking for many lung diseases. As a traditional natural medicine, Tibetan medicine has had a long history of medicinal use in ethnic minority areas, and from ancient times to the present, it has a good effect on the treatment of lung diseases and has attracted more and more attention. In this review, a total of 586 Tibetan medicines were compiled through literature research of 25 classical works on Tibetan medicine, drug standards, and some Chinese and English databases. Among them, 33 Tibetan medicines have been studied to show their effectiveness in treating lung diseases. To investigate the uses of these Tibetan medicines in greater depth, we have reviewed the ethnomedicinal, phytochemical and pharmacological properties of the four commonly used Tibetan medicines for lung diseases (rhodiola, gentian, sea buckthorn, liexiang dujuan) and the five most frequently used Tibetan medicines (safflower, licorice, sandalwood, costus, myrobalan). It is expected to provide some reference for the development of new drugs of lung diseases in the future.

OBJECTIVE: To enhance the detection, management and monitoring of Chinese children afflicted with sitosterolemia by examining the physical characteristics and genetic makeup of pediatric patients. METHODS: In this group, 26 children were diagnosed with sitosterolemia, 24 of whom underwent genetic analysis. Patient family medical history, physical symptoms, tests for liver function, lipid levels, standard blood tests, phytosterol levels, cardiac/carotid artery ultrasounds, fundus examinations, and treatment were collected. RESULTS: The majority (19, 73.1%) of the 26 patients exhibited xanthomas as the most prevalent manifestation. The second most common symptoms were joint pain (7, 26.9%) and stunted growth (4, 15.4%). Among the 24 (92.3%) patients whose genetics were analyzed, 16 (66.7%) harbored ABCG5 variants (type 2 sitosterolemia), and nearly one-third (8, 33.3%) harbored ABCG8 variants (type 1 sitosterolemia). Additionally, the most common pathogenic ABCG5 variant was c.1166G > A (p.Arg389His), which was found in 10 patients (66.7%). Further analysis did not indicate any significant differences in pathological traits among those carrying ABCG5 and ABCG8 variations (P > 0.05). Interestingly, there was a greater abundance of nonsense variations in ABCG5 than in ABCG8 (P = 0.09), and a greater frequency of splicing variations in ABCG8 than ABCG5 (P = 0.01). Following a change in diet or a combination of ezetimibe, the levels of cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein were markedly decreased compared to the levels reported before treatment. CONCLUSION: Sitosterolemia should be considered for individuals presenting with xanthomas and increased cholesterol levels. Phytosterol testing and genetic analysis are important for early detection. Managing one's diet and taking ezetimibe can well control blood lipids.

Afforestation on degraded croplands has been proposed as an effective measure to promote ecosystem functions including soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration. Glomalin-related soil protein (GRSP) plays a crucial role in promoting the accumulation and stability of SOC. Nevertheless, mechanisms underlying the effects of afforestation on GRSP accumulation have not been well elucidated. In the present study, 14 pairs of maize fields and plantation forests were selected using a paired-site approach in a karst region of southwest China. By measuring soil GRSP and a variety of soil biotic and abiotic variables, the pattern of and controls on GRSP accumulation in response to afforestation were explored. The average content of total GRSP (T-GRSP) and its contribution to SOC in the maize field were 5.22 ± 0.29 mg g-1 and 42.33 ± 2.25%, and those in the plantation forest were 6.59 ± 0.32 mg g-1 and 25.77 ± 1.17%, respectively. T-GRSP content was increased by 26.4% on average, but its contribution to SOC was decreased by 39.1% following afforestation. T-GRSP content decreased as soil depth increased regardless of afforestation or not. Afforestation increased T-GRSP indirectly via its positive effects on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi biomass, which was stimulated by afforestation through elevating fine root biomass or increasing the availability of labile C and N. The suppressed contribution of T-GRSP to SOC following afforestation was due to the relatively higher increase in other SOC components than T-GRSP and the significant increase of soil C:N ratio. Our study reveals the mechanisms underlying the effects of afforestation on T-GRSP accumulation, and is conducive to improving the mechanistic understanding of microbial control on SOC sequestration following afforestation.

The purpose of the meta-analysis was to evaluate and compare the photodynamic therapy's effectiveness in treating infected skin wounds. The results of this meta-analysis were analysed, and the odds ratio (OR) and mean difference (MD) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using dichotomous or contentious random- or fixed-effect models. For the current meta-analysis, 6 examinations spanning from 2013 to 2021 were included, encompassing 154 patients with infected skin wounds were the used studies' starting point. Photodynamic therapy had a significantly lower wound ulcer size (MD, -4.42; 95% CI, -7.56--1.28, p = 0.006), better tissue repair (MD, -8.62; 95% CI, -16.76--0.48, p = 0.04) and lower microbial cell viability (OR, 0.13; 95% CI, 0.04-0.42, p < 0.001) compared with red light exposure in subjects with infected skin wounds. The examined data revealed that photodynamic therapy had a significantly lower wound ulcer size, better tissue repair and lower microbial cell viability compared with red light exposure in subjects with infected skin wounds. However, given that all examinations had a small sample size, consideration should be given to their values.

The short-chain gaseous alkanes (ethane, propane, and butane; SCGAs) are important components of natural gas, yet their fate in environmental systems is poorly understood. Microbially mediated anaerobic oxidation of SCGAs coupled to nitrate reduction has been demonstrated for propane, but is yet to be shown for ethane or butane-despite being energetically feasible. Here we report two independent bacterial enrichments performing anaerobic ethane and butane oxidation, respectively, coupled to nitrate reduction to dinitrogen gas and ammonium. Isotopic 13C- and 15N-labelling experiments, mass and electron balance tests, and metabolite and meta-omics analyses collectively reveal that the recently described propane-oxidizing "Candidatus Alkanivorans nitratireducens" was also responsible for nitrate-dependent anaerobic oxidation of the SCGAs in both these enrichments. The complete genome of this species encodes alkylsuccinate synthase genes for the activation of ethane/butane via fumarate addition. Further substrate range tests confirm that "Ca. A. nitratireducens" is metabolically versatile, being able to degrade ethane, propane, and butane under anoxic conditions. Moreover, our study proves nitrate as an additional electron sink for ethane and butane in anaerobic environments, and for the first time demonstrates the use of the fumarate addition pathway in anaerobic ethane oxidation. These findings contribute to our understanding of microbial metabolism of SCGAs in anaerobic environments.

BACKGROUND: Therapeutic strategies based on scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) and suppressing inflammatory cascades are effective in improving functional recovery after spinal cord injury (SCI). However, the lack of targeting nanoparticles (NPs) with powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties hampers the clinical translation of these strategies. Here, CD44-targeting hyaluronic acid-selenium (HA-Se) NPs were designed and prepared for scavenging ROS and suppressing inflammatory responses in the injured spinal cord, enhancing functional recovery. RESULTS: The HA-Se NPs were easily prepared through direct reduction of seleninic acid in the presence of HA. The obtained HA-Se NPs exhibited a remarkable capacity to eliminate free radicals and CD44 receptor-facilitated internalization by astrocytes. Moreover, the HA-Se NPs effectively mitigated the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines (such as IL-1ß, TNF-α, and IL-6) by microglia cells (BV2) upon lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation. In vivo experiments confirmed that HA-Se NPs could effectively accumulate within the lesion site through CD44 targeting. As a result, HA-Se NPs demonstrated superior protection of axons and neurons within the injury site, leading to enhanced functional recovery in a rat model of SCI. CONCLUSIONS: These results highlight the potential of CD44-targeting HA-Se NPs for SCI treatment.

BACKGROUND: Pathogenesis and relapse of steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome (SSNS) are primarily associated with infection. Dental caries is the most common chronic progressive oral infection in children. However, clinical studies of SSNS combined with dental caries in children are rare. METHODS: In our retrospective cohort study from January 2021 to June 2022, 145 children with SSNS were included in the baseline analysis and 105 in the follow-up analysis. The follow-up period was 1 year. The primary study endpoints were the relapse-free period and frequently relapsing nephrotic syndrome (FRNS). Secondary endpoints included the number and triggers of relapses and concomitant medications. RESULTS: The median age was 5.5 years, with a caries rate of 60.7%, the mean DMFT/dmft was 3.86, and the caries filling rate was 1.6%. Except for the lower proportion of high household income and high parental education observed in the caries group, no statistical differences were found when comparing the other baseline data with the non-caries group. The caries group had a shorter relapse-free period and a lower 1-year cumulative relapse-free survival rate (HR = 1.90, 95% CI 1.17-3.09, P = 0.009). Univariate regression analysis showed caries associated with FRNS (OR = 2.714, 95% CI 1.021-7.219, P = 0.045), but the correlation no longer remained in the multivariate analysis. Additionally, seven cases of caries-derived pulpal periapical inflammation triggered SSNS relapses. The caries group had more infection triggers and concomitant medication use. CONCLUSION: Dental caries and relapse of SSNS are potentially associated, but careful evaluation is needed.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate brain activity changes in patients suffering from neuropathic pain (NP) following brachial plexus avulsion (BPA). METHODS: Fifteen patients with NP following BPA and eight healthy participants (HP) were recruited for this study. All participants underwent examination using resting-state functional MRI. The amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) and regional homogeneity (ReHo) were calculated and compared between the BPA group, left-BPA subgroup, right-BPA subgroup, and the HP group using independent samples t-tests. RESULTS: In the BPA group, there were notable increases in ALFF/ReHo observed in the left rolandic operculum, insula, and supramarginal gyrus, while decreases were observed in the left paracentral lobule, fusiform gyrus, calcarine fissure and surrounding cortex, lingual gyrus, precuneus, as well as the bilateral anterior/median cingulate and paracingulate gyri, supplementary motor area, and cerebellum. In the left-BPA subgroup, elevated ALFF/ReHo levels were identified in the left middle/inferior frontal gyri, rolandic operculum, and supramarginal gyrus, with corresponding decreases in the left calcarine fissure and surrounding cortex, inferior occipital gyrus, fusiform gyrus, lingual gyrus, as well as the bilateral anterior/median cingulate and paracingulate gyri, postcentral gyri, supplementary motor area, paracentral lobules, and cerebellum. The right-BPA subgroup displayed increased ALFF/ReHo in the left frontal lobe, rolandic operculum, insula, fusiform gyrus, and lingual gyrus, as well as the right cerebellum. Conversely, decreases in ALFF/ReHo were observed in the bilateral anterior/median cingulate and paracingulate gyri, calcarine fissure and surrounding cortex, cuneus, and occipital lobes. CONCLUSIONS: The NP after BPA caused spontaneous activity changes in brain regions associated with linguistic, visual, somatosensory, and motor coordination and processing function. The majority of these abnormal areas were situated in the left cerebral hemisphere, while the effect of cingulate gyri and cerebellum seemed to be bilateral.

BACKGROUND: Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) often exhibit neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS), particularly delusions. Previous studies have shown an association between white matter hyperintensities (WMH) and specific NPS. This study aims to explore the relationship between WMH volume and delusions in AD patients by comparing the WMH volumes of delusional and non-delusional subgroups. METHODS: 80 AD patients were divided into a delusion group (n = 36) and a non-delusion group (n = 44) based on the Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI). The brain cortical volume and WMH volume were quantitatively calculated for all 80 patients, including total WMH volume, periventricular WMH (PVWMH) volume, deep WMH volume, as well as bilateral frontal lobe, temporal lobe, parietal lobe, and occipital lobe WMH volumes. Firstly, we compared the differences in WMH volumes between the delusion group and non-delusion group. Then, within the delusion group, we further categorized patients based on severity scores of their delusional symptoms into mild (1 point), moderate (2 points), or severe groups (3 points). We compared the WMH volumes among these three groups to investigate the role of WMH volume in delusional symptoms. RESULTS: There was a significant difference in left occipital lobe WMH volume between the delusion group and non-delusion group(P < 0.05). Within the delusion group itself, there were significant differences in overall WMH volume as well as PVWMH volume among patients with mild or severe levels of delusions(P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Left occipital lobe WMH volume may be associated with the occurrence of delusional AD patients, and the total volume of whole-brain WMH and PVWMH volume may affect the degree of severity of delusional symptoms.

Promoting the recovery of neurological function in patients with traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) remains challenging. The balance between astrocyte-mediated neurotrophic and pro-inflammatory responses is critical for TSCI repair. Recently, the utilization of nanomaterials has been considerably explored in immunological reconstructive techniques that specifically target astrocyte-mediated inflammation, yielding positive outcomes. In this review, we aim to condense the present knowledge regarding the astrocyte-mediated inflammation following TSCI. We then review the various categories of nanomaterials utilized in the management of astrocyte-mediated inflammation in TSCI and conclude by summarizing their functions and advantages to offer novel insights for the advancement of effective clinical strategies targeting TSCI.

Duhaldea nervosa (Wallich ex Candolle) Anderberg has been widely used as medicine and food additive in China for a long history. Its roots, known as Xiaoheiyao, are the mainly used medicinal part, while the other tissues of D. nervosa are ignored as non-medicinal parts despite their high biomass, resulting in a huge waste of resources. To mine and expand the medicinal values of different parts of D. nervosa, metabolic analysis by GC/LC-MS and bioactivity evaluation were performed. Based on the antioxidant activity and correlation analysis, a metabolite-related network was constructed. A total of 45 volatile and 174 non-volatile compounds were identified. Among them, caffeoylquinic acids and derivatives were more abundant in roots and flowers, while coumaroyltartaric acids and derivatives were mainly present in stems and leaves. By multivariate analysis, 13 volatile and 37 non-volatile differential metabolites were found, respectively. In the bioactivity evaluation of different parts, the order of antioxidant capacity was flowers > roots > leaves or stems. The flowers showed the highest FRAP value (354.47 µM TE/g DW) and the lowest IC50 values in the DPPH (0.06 mg/mL) and ABTS (0.19 mg/mL) assay, while higher inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase was exhibited by flowers and leaves. This study first established the similarities and differences of phytochemicals and bioactivities in D. nervosa, providing a scientific basis for developing non-medicinal parts and guiding the clinical application of this medicinal and edible herb.

The quality of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) directly impacts clinical efficacy and safety. Fingerprint technology is an internationally recognized method for evaluating the quality of CHM. However, the existing quality evaluation models based on fingerprint technology have blocked the ability to assess the internal quality of CHM and cannot comprehensively reflect the correlation between pharmacodynamic information and active constituents. Through mathematical methods, a connection between the "Spectrum" (fingerprint) and the "Effect" (pharmacodynamic data) was established to conduct a spectrum-effect relationship (SER) of CHM to unravel the active component information associated with the pharmacodynamic activity. Consequently, SER can efficiently address the limitations of the segmentation of chemical components and pharmacodynamic effect in CHM and further improve the quality evaluation of CHM. This review focuses on the recent research progress of SER in the field of CHM, including the establishment of fingerprint, the selection of data analysis methods, and their recent applications in the field of CHM. Various advanced fingerprint techniques are introduced, followed by the data analysis methods used in recent years are summarized. Finally, the applications of SER based on different research subjects are described in detail. In addition, the advantages of combining SER with other data are discussed through practical applications, and the research on SER is summarized and prospected. This review proves the validity and development potential of the SER and provides a reference for the development and application of quality evaluation methods for CHM.

Through anatomical morphology, to accumulate the relevant parameters of the A1 pulley of each adult finger. A total of 100 fingers were selected, dissected layer by layer, and the A1 pulley and neurovascular of each finger were observed. Measure the length of the A1 pulley, the distance between the needle knife insertion point and the proximal edge of A1 pulley, and the nerves and blood vessels on both sides. (1) The length of A1 pulleys of each finger is 6.18 ± 0.33 mm, 6.58 ± 0.73 mm, 5.98 ± 0.67 mm, 5.36 ± 1.08 mm, 5.63 ± 1.09 mm. (2) The distances between the needle knife entry point of each finger and the volar proper nerve of the ulnar finger are 7.00 ± 1.55 mm, 8.29 ± 1.46 mm, 5.10 ± 0.25 mm, 5.30 ± 0.24 mm, 0 mm; the distances from the volar proper nerve of the radial finger are 9.08 ± 0.87 mm, 4.70 ± 1.10 mm, 7.03 ± 0.72 mm, 6.81 ± 0.22 mm, 7.81 ± 0.57 mm. (3) The distances between the needle knife entry point of each finger and the proper volar artery of the ulnar finger are 10.40 ± 0.75 mm, 8.89 ± 0.53 mm, 6.35 ± 0.44 mm, 7.26 ± 0.16 mm, 0 mm, respectively; The distances from the volar proper artery of the radial finger are 8.75 ± 1.07 mm, 6.10 ± 0.35 mm, 11.44 ± 0.41 mm, 8.19 ± 0.60 mm, 9.78 ± 0.68 mm, respectively. The landmarks of the needle entry points are located at the position corresponding to the highest point of the metacarpal heads, except the tail finger. From the needle knife entry point to distal, cut the proximal edge of the A1 pulley longitudinally along the midline until the patient can flex autonomously, and pay attention to the distance between the two sides of 3.60-11.85 mm neurovascular bundle.

Carbon-introducing difunctionalization of C-C double bonds enabled by transition-metal catalysis is one of most straightforward and efficient strategies to construct C-C and C-X bonds concurrently from readily available feedstocks towards structurally diverse molecules in one step; however, analogous difunctionalization for introducing germanium group and other functionalities remains elusive. Herein, we describe a nickel-catalyzed germylative alkylation of activated olefins with easily accessible primary, secondary and tertiary alkyl bromides and chlorogermanes as the electrophiles to form C-Ge and C-Calkyl bonds simultaneously. This method provides a modular and facile approach for the synthesis of a broad range of alkylgermanes with good functional group compatibility, and can be further applied to the late-stage modification of natural products and pharmaceuticals, as well as ligation of drug fragments. More importantly, this platform enables the expedient synthesis of germanium substituted ospemifene-Ge-OH, which shows improved properties compared to ospemifene in the treatment of breast cancer cells, demonstrating high potential of our protocol in drug development.

The identification of potential epigenetic targets for a known bioactive compound is essential and promising as more and more epigenetic drugs are used in cancer clinical treatment and the availability of chemogenomic data related to epigenetics increases. In this study, we introduce a novel epigenetic target identification strategy (ETI-Strategy) that integrates a multi-task graph convolutional neural network prior model and a protein-ligand interaction classification discriminating model using large-scale bioactivity data for a panel of 55 epigenetic targets. Our approach utilizes machine learning techniques to achieve an AUC value of 0.934 for the prior model and 0.830 for the discriminating model, outperforming inverse docking in predicting protein-ligand interactions. When comparing with other open-source target identification tools, it was found that only our tool was able to accurately predict all the targets corresponding to each compound. This further demonstrates the ability of our strategy to take full advantage of molecular-level information as well as protein-level information in molecular activity prediction. Our work highlights the contribution of machine learning in the identification of potential epigenetic targets and offers a novel approach for epigenetic drug discovery and development.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Glaux maritima is a mesophyte halophyte with strong salt tolerance. In this study, we conducted research on the salt tolerance mechanism of G. maritima through phenotypic, physiological, and transcriptomic aspects. The results indicate that leaf cross-sections revealed that G. maritima has a salt gland tissue composed of stalk, collecting, and secretory cells, which are trapped in epidermal cells. At the physiological level, the maximum salt tolerance threshold of G. maritima leaves was 600 mM/L. At this concentration, proline content, relative conductivity, and superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT) enzyme activities were maximum. At the transcriptional level, transcriptome data of three experimental groups (N0: 0 mM/L, N3: 600 mM/L, and N4: 800 mM/L) were analyzed, and six essential genes related to proline synthesis and five essential genes related to SOD and CAT enzyme activities were identified. Two genes involved in CAT enzyme activity were also found to play an important role in the MAPK signaling pathway. Trend analysis revealed that the MAPK signaling regulation (37 differentially expressed genes (DEGs)), phytohormone regulation (48 DEGs), glutathione metabolism (8 DEGs), flavonoid and flavonoid biosynthesis (2DEGs), and flavonoid biosynthesis (24 DEGs) pathways played important roles in regulating the salt tolerance of G. maritima. These findings provide valuable information for further studies on the functional characteristics of G. maritima in response to abiotic stress and may contribute to salt resistance breeding of fodder crops for cultivation in saline alkali land.

Background: Observational studies have indicated an association between polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and chronic pain, but the potential causal link remains controversial. Here, we aimed to investigate whether a causal relationship exists between the concentration of circulating PUFAs and chronic pain as well as the direction of this association. Methods: We collected statistical data from relevant genome-wide association studies to explore the causal link between four PUFAs, along with the ratio of omega-6 fatty acids (FAs) to omega-3 FAs (omega-6:3 ratio), and chronic pain in eight specific body parts. We used the inverse-variance weighting (IVW) method for two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis and conducted supplementary analyses using four other methods (MR-Egger, weighted median, weighted mode, and simple mode). To verify the robustness of the MR study, we performed multiple sensitivity analyses. Results: The results revealed a negative correlation between omega-3 FAs [IVW, OR 95% CI: 0.952 (0.914, 0.991), p = 0.017] and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) [IVW, OR 95% CI: 0.935 (0.893, 0.978), p = 0.003] with abnormal and pelvic pain. Furthermore, a positive correlation was observed between the omega-6:3 ratio [IVW, OR 95% CI: 1.057 (1.014, 1.101), p = 0.009] with abdominal and pelvic pain. Additionally, we found a negative correlation between omega-3 FAs [IVW, OR 95% CI: 0.947 (0.902, 0.994), p = 0.028] and lower back pain or sciatica. However, no causal relationship was found between the concentration of circulating PUFAs and pain in other body parts, including the face, throat and chest, joints, limbs, lower back, and gynecological parts. The robustness of these MR results was verified through multi-validity and retention method analyses. Conclusion: Our analysis suggests that higher circulating concentrations of omega-3 FAs and DHA and a lower omega-6:3 ratio are associated with a reduced risk of abdominal and pelvic pain. Additionally, a higher concentration of circulating omega-3 FAs is linked to a reduced risk of lower back pain and/or sciatica. These findings have major implications for the targeted prevention and treatment of chronic pain using PUFAs.

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, yet the drugs currently approved for cancer treatment are associated with significant side effects, making it urgent to develop alternative drugs with low side effects. Polysaccharides are natural polymers with ketone or aldehyde groups, which are widely found in plants and have various biological activities such as immunomodulation, antitumor and hypolipidemic. The lower plants have attracted much attention for their outstanding anticancer effects, and many studies have shown that medicinal lower plant polysaccharides (MLPPs) have antitumor activity against various cancers and are promising alternatives with potential development in the food and pharmaceutical fields. Therefore, this review describes the structure and mechanism of action of MLPPs with antitumor activity. In addition, the application of MLPPs in cancer treatment is discussed, and the future development of MLPPs is explored.

BACKGROUND: C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 9 (CXCL9), which is involved in the pathological processes of various human cancers, has become a hot topic in recent years. We developed a radiomic model to identify CXCL9 status in ovarian cancer (OC) and evaluated its prognostic significance. METHODS: We analyzed enhanced CT scans, transcriptome sequencing data, and corresponding clinical characteristics of CXCL9 in OC using the TCIA and TCGA databases. We used the repeat least absolute shrinkage (LASSO) and recursive feature elimination(RFE) methods to determine radiomic features after extraction and normalization. We constructed a radiomic model for CXCL9 prediction based on logistic regression and internal tenfold cross-validation. Finally, a 60-month overall survival (OS) nomogram was established to analyze survival data based on Cox regression. RESULTS: CXCL9 mRNA levels and several other genes involving in T-cell infiltration were significantly relevant to OS in OC patients. The radiomic score (rad_score) of our radiomic model was calculated based on the five features for CXCL9 prediction. The areas under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves (AUC-ROC) for the training cohort was 0.781, while that for the validation cohort was 0.743. Patients with a high rad_score had better overall survival (P < 0.001). In addition, calibration curves and decision curve analysis (DCA) showed good consistency between the prediction and actual observations, demonstrating the clinical utility of our model. CONCLUSION: In patients with OC, the radiomics signature(RS) of CT scans can distinguish the level of CXCL9 expression and predict prognosis, potentially fulfilling the ultimate purpose of precision medicine.

BACKGROUND: Microvascular decompression (MVD) has been used in the treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) and arterial hypertension (HTN). Results of several reports have supported its clinical effectiveness, however, little attention has been paid on arterial blood pressure changes caused by MVD in patients with TN. METHODS: In this single-center retrospective study, a cohort of 80 patients with TN who underwent MVD between 2021 and 2022 had been reviewed. Clinical data such as age, gender, pain duration, operation time, side and range of pain, HTN history, treatment history, VAS score, mean arterial pressure (MAP), and nausea or vomiting after operation were collected and analyzed via Linear regression to select possible related factors. Then, multiple linear regression of the possible predictors was used to identify the variables that significantly predicted MAP reduction. RESULTS: The VAS scores of TN patients after MVD surgery was significantly lower than that before operation, irrespective of the gender, side and range of pain, HTN history, RF history, and PONV (Wilcoxon test, P < 0.001). MVD can significantly decreased the blood pressure of TN patients, without interference from other factors. (MAP reduction ratio=14.46% ± 12.32%) (paired t-test, P < 0.001). The univariate and Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the preoperative MAP was significantly related to MAP reduction ratio (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: In patients with TN, MVD can significantly decrease arterial blood pressure. Blood pressure reductions were more prominent when cases with higher preoperative MAP.
